This is a media horror poster I did, entitled Scream. :)

Image Production and Analysis

My poster, entitled ‘Scream’ is a mid shot of a girl in front of a shadow, against a wall, screaming. I achieved this picture by positioning a child-like girl against a white wall with a flash light wearing a lot dark of make-up.
After this I took my photo to Photoshop and used the burn tool to create the illusion of the audience seeing through a telescope-type circle by making the photo darker around the edges.
Then I used the dodge tool to make the actual circle a little lighter and make the shadow more defined and more intimidating.
The title is ‘Scream’ because the girl is screaming and it is written in opaque, red italics so that it looks more sinister, it is positioned top-center above the girls head so that it is the first thing you see which shows that it is the title and is also in a large font in order to catch the eye of the audience.
The slogan is:
‘What lurks in your shadow?’
This is meant to be thought provoking for the audience, making them think about what evil there could be within them…
It is also written in red italics which for me look sinister, perhaps because it could be a signifier for blood, which makes me queasy to think about.

The whole idea behind the poster is the thought that there is evil lurking within all of us no matter what and the only question is really, how much evil we hide, in shadow, and how much we allow to be viewed. Also, it is a slight juxta position because of the fact that the girl in the photo looks like she could be quite young and children are generally perceived to be innocent.
I would like to leave the question of why or what the girl is screaming about up to the imagination of the audience as I feel that imaginations can be more terrifying than images themselves.

My Introduction

Hi!
My name' s Isabel but i prefer to be called Bella, I live in kenya but I am anglo-spanish, I'm 16 and I'm taking media studies as an AS subject at Hurtwood House.
The reason I chose this subject is because I've always been enthusiastic about what goes on behind the scenes in films instead of just in front of the camera and I think that media will show me how things are really done. I love working with cameras and even though in the long run i would love to be an actress, I think knowing how much goes into the actual filming is a valid thing.
Personally I love romantic comedies, or RomCom's (as my media teacher calls them!) however, i think this year we will be focusing mostly on horror's so i have a lot to learn. :) My favourite music varies, but right now I'm pretty into acoustic, relaxing, sing-a-longs. Oh by the way, i LOVE to sing and I've been writing songs since I was a child so if i put any songs up here, please do listen and comment.
I think this blog could turn out to be quite entertaining so stick around!
Welcome to the first blog of the rest of my media life!
