For my group’s pop video we decided to use the song; Young Love by the Mystery Jets. It’s a fun-loving, upbeat song that sounds and feels colourful and young.
Our video is set mainly in a kitchen were a young man (who is also the lead singer of the band) is making breakfast. It will be made clear that the breakfast is for two because there will be two of everything and a rose to signify romance. As the guy is making breakfast flashbacks from a date the night before come to his mind and the audience become the voyeurs of the romantic -albeit slightly idealistic- date the couple shared.
The band consists of four male instrumentalists and one female singer. The two lead singers (one male, one female) are the couple that we are using as the narrative focus for our piece. The other members of the band won’t be seen quite so much and our both singers should not really be seen facially in the kitchen at all, so as to keep the surprise for the end when the girl walks down the stairs in her dressing gown so as to extrovertly imply that she was in fact the girl from the night before and may become his girl for many nights to come!
The three elements of our piece are therefore; the guy making breakfast in the kitchen, the flashbacks from the previous night and of course the band’s performance-seen first as a ‘rehearsal’ and later at a concert.
